Chandler will celebrate five citizens for their contributions to the city on Dec. 10, during a ceremony where their names will be unveiled on the Celebration Plaza at Tumbleweed Park. The honorees were chosen for their civic leadership and commitment to the community. They were selected by the City Council, based on submissions from the Parks and Recreation Board. The inductees are:

• Patti Bruno, a former City Councilwoman who raised funds for community organizations.

• Lowell Huggins, a former City Councilman, retired police officer and longtime barbershop owner.

• Carlos Ledesma, a police detective killed during a narcotics operation in 2010.

• Dave McDowell, who is active in community groups and worked 25 years for the city designing, building and operating parks.

• Marty Wright, who has been active in the Lions club, youth sports programs and other organizations.

The inductees will be honored at 9 a.m. Dec. 10 at Tumbleweed Park, 2250 S. McQueen Road. For information on nominating residents to be honored at Celebration Plaza, call (480) 782-2743.
