A 20-year-old woman accused of stealing a cell phone from a 15-year-old girl at gunpoint is facing charges of armed robbery.
Jessica Ann Vaughn was arrested without incident on suspicion of two counts of armed robbery and two counts of aggravated assault about 5:30 p.m. Monday after police found her vehicle near Frye Road and Hidalgo Street.
Vaughn is accused of taking the girl’s cell phone after pointing a gun at her as she was walking home from school in the 300 block of East Chandler Boulevard. About an hour later, police said, Vaughn tried to rob a 38-year-old mother who was in the process of securing her two children in the back seat of her car at a parking lot in the 3000 block of West Chandler Boulevard. However, the woman was able to fight off the robbery before she fled in a vehicle as witnesses got the license plate number.
