A Chandler police officer was arrested Sunday morning for allegedly driving while impaired.
Seth Tyler with the Chandler Police Department confirmed that one of its officers was arrested for DUI at 10:36 a.m.
Tyler said the officer was processed and has been placed on paid-administrative leave pending an internal investigation. The officer was then transferred to a local hospital for observation.
He identified the officer as 53-year-old Lonnie Morris, a 19-year veteran with the Department.
Tyler said the officer showed up for an "extra-duty job" and was allegedly impaired in an emailed press release.
