Mesa’s Lauren Zaharis has danced her way across the stage as Clara, Snow Queen and Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, and as Aurora in Sleeping Beauty. So it’s fitting that in her final production with Ballet Etudes, the 18-year-old will be featured as the ultimate fairytale heroine, Cinderella.
Zaharis, a senior at Mountain View High School, will reprise the ballet role that was originally created for her in 2010, according to a news release. Zaharis trained for three summers at New York City’s American Ballet Theatre and is currently a trainee dancer with Ballet West in Utah, in addition to her principal status with the East Valley’s Ballet Etudes.
Cinderella will be performed at 7 p.m. May 18, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. May 19, and 3 p.m. May 20 at Chandler Center for the Arts. Tickets are $12 and $17, and can be purchased by calling (480) 782-2680.
