Chandler has announced the six finalists in its search for a police chief. The list includes three candidates from local law-enforcement agencies and three from out of state.

The three local finalists are: John Cocca, assistant chief, Scottsdale Police Department; Sean Duggan, assistant chief, Scottsdale Police Department; Don Schneidmiller, assistant chief/executive officer, Surprise Police Department.

The three out-of-state finalists are: Landy Black, police chief/interim public safety director, Davis, Calif.; Joel Fitzgerald, police chief, Missouri City, Texas; Christopher Vicino, assistant chief, Riverside, Calif.

Candidates will be interviewed the week of Nov. 4 and the city expects to hire a police chief by the end of this year.

The city invites the community to a Nov. 5 public open house to meet the six finalists. The meeting will be from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Vision Gallery in Chandler City Hall, 10 E. Chicago St.

Chandler began its national search for a police chief after Sherry Kiyler retired in June. She had headed the Chandler Police Department since 2004.

Chandler Assistant Police Chief Dave Neuman is acting chief.
