Union members in Chandler will begin a monthlong bottled water drive next week.

The second annual Water Challenge is a competition among the Service Employees International Union chapters in Chandler, Gilbert and Tempe to see who can collect the most cases of bottled water.

Water donated in Chandler will be delivered to the Chandler Salvation Army and Improving Chandler Area Neighborhoods.

The effort is to help people in need and at risk for heat-related illnesses during the intense summer months. The collection drive starts Wednesday and will end July 2.

There are five designated drop-off sites in Chandler: 215 E. Buffalo St.; 975 E. Armstrong Way; 955 E. Queen Creek Road; City Council offices at 55 N. Arizona Place, Suite 301; and Chandler Christian Community Food Bank at 345 S. California St.

For information, call James Kame at (480) 782-3367.
