The Arizona School Public Relations Association honored the Chandler Chamber of Commerce with an Award of Excellence in the category of Business, Foundation or Civic/Community Organization for contributions to public education.
The chamber supports education in many ways. It hosts an annual Education Forum to raise awareness of the challenges and achievement of Chandler schools. It raises funds for education through the annual Ostrich Festival and Mayor’s Fun Run in March. The chamber also sponsors the Teacher of the Year, Administrator of the Year and Support Staff Employee of the Year awards.
Last year, the chamber endorsed the override elections of the three districts that serve Chandler. The chamber spread the message that a “Yes for Chandler Students” vote was “Endorsed by Chandler Chamber of Commerce.” All three districts passed their override elections last November.
“Education has always been an important part of our chamber, and we are thrilled to receive this honor,” said Terri Kimble, president/CEO of the Chandler Chamber of Commerce. “We work very closely with the Chandler Unified School District and the city to ensure the success of the Chandler community.”
The chamber was honored at the annual Superintendents Luncheon at the East Valley Institute of Technology on April 11.
