Chandler-based Microchip Technology is acquiring Roving Networks, a California-based wireless communications developer. Microchip bought the privately held firm for an undisclosed amount.
Roving Networks will remain in its Los Gatos location, where it develops WiFi and Bluetooth connections for smartphones such as iPhone and Android.
“Roving Networks’ wireless solutions are well positioned to capitalize on a number of embedded markets, including the market for smartphone accessories,” Roving Networks CEO Mike Conrad said in a statement. “Microchip’s operational excellence combined with their broad customer reach and extensive channel presence will be key for the next stage of our growth.”
