Citing the importance small businesses play in a thriving economy, Gateway Bank sought out a local deserving small business to reward.
The Mesa-based bank found Antrim Air of Chandler through its Love Local campaign, which sought nominations from Valley residents for their favorite business with 20 employees or less and one operated by Arizona residents.
“We’re pleased to name Antrim Air as the winner,” said James Christensen, Gateway Bank president and CEO. “They embody the true spirit of community by supporting local veterans and nonprofits, and their passion for helping others is evident in the way they operate their business.”
Antrim Air is an HVAC company owned by Anthony and Talitha Gilmore of Chandler. It opened in 2010 near downtown Chandler. The company wins $5,000 from Gateway Bank, $2,500 in cash and $2,500 towards marketing services from Forty design of Tempe.
“We’re going to use it all for marketing,” Talitha Gilmore said. “It was a pleasant surprise to us. We didn’t know we were up for it until we got the call that we had won.
“This will be a big help going into our ‘offseason.’”
Anthony Gilmore was in the Navy, where he learned the AC trade, for 18 years before he was honorable discharged in 1999. He and his wife were founding partners in another East Valley AC company that opened in 2003, before the Gilmores branched out on their own three years ago.
Antrim Air was nominated by one of its customers. Approximately 70 companies were nominated Valley-wide.
“Small businesses help our economy grow and thrive, and Love Local is one way of showing appreciation while giving the community an opportunity to return the support,” Christensen said.
Gateway Bank is a self-described community-centric institution, focused on returning to the “old-fashioned” way of banking.
