Teens can receive free hands-on driver training next week thanks to Ford.

For a fifth year, the national Ford Driving Skills for Life program is coming to Chandler’s Firebird Raceway. During the event, teenagers can get behind the wheel of a car with a professional driving instructor.

Newly licensed teen drivers or those who hold a learner’s permit with 30 hours behind the wheel can sign up for one of three free sessions that will run 7 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 5-6. Participants will learn skills in four areas: speed management, space management, vehicle handling and hazard recognition.

Space is limited. Registration is required at www.drivingskillsforlife.com. For more information, e-mail FordDSFL@ford.com with questions.
