Community members worried about heart disease can learn more during a free seminar sponsored by Chandler Regional and Mercy Gilbert Medical Centers.

Heart attack prevention specialist Jeffery Fine will discuss the dangers of undetected heart disease and how to get on the right path toward better heart health 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 21 at St. Stephens Catholic Church, 24827 S. Dobson Road in Sun Lakes.

Participants must complete the HeartAware online risk assessment and qualify for an additional screening to receive a certificate good for a $50 heart scan through March 20.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States. Unlike some diseases, it can be largely predicted and prevented.

Registration is required as space is limited. Reservations are accepted at ResourceLink at (480) 728-5414 or ResourceLink@DignityHealth.org.

A free online assessment is available to learn if you're at risk for heart disease, at HeartAwareTest.com.

I was really interested in the free heart screening until I read a little further and realized it came with potentially expensive strings attached.
