A Chandler man who told police he carried a badge and impersonated a police officer to get respect when he deals with people, was arrested by Scottsdale police.

Dudley KwokTak Chan, 49, was arrested on suspicion of impersonating a police officer and driving on a suspended license about 9 a.m. on Friday soon after he walked into a branch of the Amtrust Bank at 8764 E. Shea Blvd. toting a gun on his hip in a holster and asked for directions. Showing a badge, Chan told the teller he was a Chandler police officer, but she thought his badge looked fake and called police herself. The woman provided a description of the man’s car to authorities, according to Scottsdale police.

After police located Chan in his vehicle in the 7100 block of East Shea Boulevard, they conducted a traffic stop on him.

During a search of Chan’s vehicle, police confiscated two pellet-type hand guns.
