For the second week in a row, East Valley drivers saw a small drop in gas prices, according to AAA Arizona.
In Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe and surrounding cities, fuel prices dropped 1.7 cents to $3.766 a gallon on Thursday. The statewide average dropped 1.2 cents over last week to $3.735 per gallon. Nationally, prices decreased almost 2 cents to $3.701 per gallon.
“While it’s good to see prices finally reverse course, it is too soon to say whether retail prices have peaked for the year,” said Linda Gorman, director of communications and public affairs for AAA Arizona. “However, should we experience another bump in prices, AAA maintains that prices will likely crest lower and earlier than in recent years, barring unforeseen circumstances.”
