Arizona has a new state librarian.

Secretary of State Ken Bennett has appointed Joan Clark to head the State Library, Archives and Public Records, which is division of Bennett's office.

She succeeds GladysAnn Wells, who retired last year.

Clark has been interim director of the Arizona Capitol Museum and deputy director of the State Library. She previously was manager of a state program assisting libraries.

Clark previously worked for AT&T and is a former teacher.

Clark is a Chandler resident.
