A man identifying himself as a Chandler Police Officer or an officer of Chandler City Court is scamming elderly community members.

The impersonator confirms the person’s name and address and tells the victim there is an out-standing warrant for his or her arrest for missing jury duty. The individual then tries to persuade the victim to purchase a pre-paid credit card to cancel the warrant; he later calls back with the credit card access code and informs the victim the warrant is cleared.

Chandler Police Department employs volunteers to contact individuals with arrest warrants but never collects payment over the phone, rather redirecting the individual to the Chandler Magistrate Court where the payment of the arrest warrant is handled.

If you have received such a phone call, contact Chandler Police Department at (480) 782-4130.
