The Chandler Fire Department is seeking 26 volunteers for the city's Community Emergency Response Team, which helps residents become better prepared to respond to unexpected disasters or emergencies.

The volunteer positions are for the areas of administration, operations, recruitment/retention, training, leadership and communications/marketing. The work is part time with flexible hours, and volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

The first step for becoming a CERT volunteer is to complete the upcoming Basic CERT course, which is 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and continues for seven consecutive Tuesday evenings. The classes are held at the Chandler Fire Training Center, 3550 S. Dobson Road.

For information or to register, call the CERT volunteer line at (480) 782-2116 or e-mail CERT Administration at certadmin@chandleraz.gov.
