A suspect with a felony warrant has surrendered after fleeing from police and prompting a barricade situation in a Chandler neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

Chandler police Sgt. Joseph Favazzo said 22-year-old Jesse Romero jumped from his vehicle near Chandler Boulevard and McQueen Road, letting it roll into a parked SUV before he ran into a nearby apartment.

Favazzo said Romero was believed to be armed inside the apartment, prompting a SWAT response at the scene.

Negotiators were also called in to assist, working to talk Romero out of the residence.

Air15 video showed a suspect being loaded into a squad car as dozens of police vehicles sat stationed around the neighborhood.
