Planning to check out a movie this weekend in Chandler? Why not help out a student at the same time.
Harkins Theaters Chandler Crossroads, 2980 E. Germann Road, will host a backpack drive 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 11 as part of a Valleywide drive this weekend.
The event is sponsored by the Phoenix Suns, with Harkins and Coca-Cola as partners. The hope is to provide backpacks to Communities in Schools, an organization dedicated to empowering Valley youth to stay in school, with backpacks and school supplies for the 2012-2013 school year.
Fans will receive two free Ultimate VIP admission tickets to a Harkins movie of their choice for a backpack donation filled with school supplies including crayons, spiral notebooks, pencils and glue sticks.
