Chandler Unified School District governing board member Charlotte Patterson was honored with a surprise celebration Wednesday night recognizing her as the longesttenured board member in the district.

More than 50 people attended the celebration before the meeting and gave many gifts, including a star named for her and a proclamation from Chandler Mayor Boyd Dunn declaring April 25, 2007, as Charlotte Patterson Day.

Patterson joined the board in 1993 and with 14 years, three-and-a-half months under her belt has out served the previous longest tenured board member, A.T. Morgareidge, who served from 1916 to 1930.

“The reward is in the service,” Patterson said.
