The Gilbert Town Council voted to give additional funding to the aquatics department this week, allowing the department to add more public swimming hours the next few months, said Rob Giles, recreation superintendent for the town.

With the funding, four public pools will be open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays, beginning this week. The pools are located at Greenfield Junior High School, Williams Field High School and Perry High School, as well as the Mesquite Aquatic Center, adjacent to Mesquite Junior High School, which was going to be the only pool open on Saturdays this summer.

Admission prices are $3 for adults and $1 for children.
