Four Gilbert residents have been chosen to be interviewed out of the 13 people applying for the vacancy on the Gilbert Unified School District board, said Hope Olguin, elections specialist for Maricopa County Superintendents Office.

M. Laurin Hendrix, Blake Sacha, Adelaida Severson and Lily Tram are seeking the seat available after board member Traci Klein abruptly resigned last month.

Hendrix has more than 22 years' management experience in manufacturing, construction and the automotive industry. He has five children who have attended Gilbert district schools.

Sacha serves as an executive in the electronics industry at Intel, where he's worked since 1988. He helped establish the boundaries for Quartz Hill Elementary School and has two children in the district.

Severson is president of Bushtex, a Gilbert company. She is an adjunct lecturer for an international communication course at Arizona State University and was also director of special events and a program coordinator at ASU.

Tram is a senior financial services manager for ASU. She has worked at ASU since 1989 as an accountant, director of fiscal and business services and financial accounting manager. She has three children in the district.

Interviews for the Gilbert seat will begin today and take place through Wednesday, Olguin said.

The person appointed by Maricopa County Superintendent of Schools Sandra Dowling will fill the spot until the end of the year, when Klein's position expires.
