Microchip Technology said Monday it has acquired ZeroG Wireless, a privately held semiconductor company based in Sunnyvale, Calif., that makes products used in Wi-Fi systems.

ZeroG's Wi-Fi-certified transceivers and modules will strengthen Microchip's wireless offerings, the Chandler company said.

Terms of the deal are confidential.
