Navajo Elementary School was locked down for an hour on Monday before Scottsdale police arrested a Phoenix woman on suspicion of making threats after she text-messaged her ex-husband that she was going to harm their child, a first-grader at the school.

The ex-husband, whose name is being withheld by police, received the text message from the woman about 9 a.m., according to police.

Navajo, at 4525 N. Granite Reef Road, was immediately placed on lockdown while Scottsdale and Phoenix police coordinated efforts and arrested the mother in Phoenix. It was not immediately known why the woman would have wanted to harm the child.
