PHOENIX - Police in Tucson say a woman who was doused with a flammable liquid and set on fire in September has died after spending months in a Phoenix burn unit.
Angela Marie Hudson died Tuesday at Maricopa Medical Center. Police say she was in her home on Sept. 22 when 51-year-old Anthony Lewis burst in and lit her on fire.
The 44-year-old ran next door, where her neighbor put her in a shower to put out the flames. She was severely burned on her face, neck and chest.
Police began searching for Lewis and he was caught a month later trying to cross into Canada from Bellingham, Wash. He's been held in the Pima County jail on an attempted murder charge.
Police say Lewis now faces a first-degree murder charge. They say the two knew each other, but haven't released a motive.
