Scottsdale police are investigating whether an incident involving a man trying to lure girls into a late model white pickup truck at a school bus stop at a north Scottsdale intersection Friday morning is connected to a similar one at Rio Montana Park in August.

Three students at Mountainside Middle School told police that a man driving a white pickup truck tried to lure two girls, ages 13 and 14, into his truck about 8:25 a.m. at 106th and Cholla streets after he asked them if they lost a dog.

The man drove around the intersection about four or five times before he spoke with the girls, police said.

The girls, who told police the man made them feel uncomfortable, said they told him no.

The man — described as Hispanic, 35 to 40 years old, with a medium to heavy build and a short “buzz” haircut — was driving around in the truck with a business logo on the side and a ladder in the bed, according to police.

Police said his description matches that of another man observed in a white pickup truck at Rio Montana Park near 132nd Street and Via Linda on Aug. 27, who was reported to be engaged in lewd behavior while watching children at the park.
