The Higley Unified School District is still investigating several pranks that took place Friday at Williams Field High School.
According to Teddy Irvine, assistant superintendent for secondary students, there were several incidents, including tampering with a fire sprinkler that resulted in water damage to a classroom building. There was also a food fight during the first lunch period and damage around campus from shaving cream and water balloons.
"There have not been decisions made about consequences because the investigation is still ongoing," Irvine said Monday. "The administrative team at Williams Field has interviewed many, many students and teachers today collecting statements."
Parents on Friday received a letter stating the district plans to pursue criminal charges against some of those involved.
Friday afternoon district employees assessed the damage, and started cleanup, but costs are still unknown.
"I don't know if a decision will be reached today or tomorrow. The district is still looking at charging some students," she said, noting there may be different consequences depending on which event a student was involved with.
According to Friday's letter, the students may not only face charges, but restitution and short- or long-term suspension. Any seniors could be banned from participating Wednesday's graduation ceremony, the letter states. This is the first year Williams Field High will be graduating seniors.

I can't say I am surprised at all about what happened at Williams Field. My daughter has shared with me so many negative things that have happened at school since Kathy Vogt became the new principal this last semester. I hear she is very mean to the kids and teachers and is in the mold of Denise Birdwell who likes to bully people around. WF has really gone downhill recently in so many ways. I am not surprised the kids acted out against Kathy Vogt.

These kids a lot of them obviously had frustrations built up for a long time and acted out. Kathy kept fueling the fire. She totally lost control of the school. I don't condone what the kids did in any way. It is a terrible way to end the school year for WF. I fear what will happen at graduation.

I'm all for school pranks, they are a lot of fun for the kids doing them and for the bystanders be they teachers or the kids.
A prank is very different from vandalism which is what this incident sounds like. Damages should be paid and a punishment other than having daddy swipe his credit card should be imposed.
