The Arizona Department of Transportation has closed portions of eastbound and westbound Interstate 40 between Flagstaff and Winslow due to high winds and blowing dust.

The eastbound closure is at the Two Guns Interchange (Milepost 230), where traffic is being turned around. The westbound closure is in Winslow (Milepost 252), where traffic may exit into the city.

The highway will remain closed until visibility improves. Drivers should avoid the area for the rest of Wednesday.

Drivers can get the latest information about restrictions at www.az511.com or by calling 5-1-1.

Much of state is under a high wind advisory because of a cold front moving in. The advisory is in place until 9 p.m. Wednesday.

In addition, No Burn Day restrictions are in place for the Valley until midnight because of an air quality health watch issued by the Department of Environmental Quality. People with respiratory issues should limit time outdoors.
