A registered sex offender has been arrested on suspicion of showing an explicit photograph of himself twice to children, and police said there may be more possible victims.
Gregory Clarence Mason, 45, of Mesa, was booked Friday on suspicion of six counts of furnishing obscene materials to minors, one count of public display of obscene material and a count of marijuana possession. He remains jailed on a $75,000 cash-only bond.
Police said that on May 13, Mason twice showed the photo to children. Victims were able to provide a license plate from the suspect’s vehicle. Mason was arrested Friday.
Mason told police he has shown the photo to numerous other children in Mesa and surrounding communities. He also confessed to possessing child pornography on his computer and communicating with children in online chat rooms. His computer was seized for investigation.
Mason is a Level 3 sex offender. He served 11 years in prison before being released in 2003. If parents suspect their child may be a victim, they can call Mesa police at (480) 644-2211.
