Police are searching for a man who car-jacked a woman and drove off with her car and purse near Mesa's Banner Desert Medical Center on Thursday afternoon.

The woman told police that about 12:40 p.m., a man approached her as she was sitting in her 2004 Kia Sorento (Arizona license plate 737CMB) in the parking lot of a medical building in the 1500 block of South Dobson Road, pointed a gun in her face and ordered her to get out of the car. When the woman asked the man if she could keep her purse, he told her no before she got out of her car, according to police.

The suspect, who was described as a Hispanic male between 30 to 40 years old and wearing a light blue shirt and blue pants, sped off in the woman's car south on Dobson.

When police arrived, they were unable to locate the suspect.
