Banner Heart Hospital, 6644 E. Baywood Ave., has established the East Valley's first Heart Rhythm Center, according to a news release.
The center diagnoses, treats and educates patients on heart rhythm issues. Physicians also receive special training at the center.
All types of cardiac arrhythimas, especially atrial fibrillation, are treated at the center. According to the news release, about 6,000 East Valley residents are affected by atrial fibrillation; nationwide, that number is 2.5 million.
