A 27-year-old man admitted to police he smashed out two windows at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ismael Jose Valencia, who was wanted on two outstanding warrants for other offenses, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated criminal damage for defacing the church at 616 S. Extension Road about 8 p.m. Sunday, according to police.
Police arrested Valencia about an hour after he threw two landscaping rocks through two sets of 3 feet by 6 feet dual-pane windows on the northwestern side of the church where four women were inside a church classroom. No one was injured when the rocks crashed through the windows, causing $2,000 in damage, police said.
As Valencia fled on foot, witnesses, including the church's bishop, called police. Valencia was caught at a nearby Circle K convenience store, where he admitted to the crime, police said.
