A California actor who had several minor film and television roles was arrested in Scottsdale on suspicion of sexual abuse after his nephew’s 15-year-old babysitter accused him of making suggestive comments and inappropriately touching her.
Jonathan Simanton, 36, a 3-foot 6-inch actor who appeared in “Surviving Christmas” and other movies, was arrested about 11:37 p.m. Monday at the Dakotas Apartment Homes, 16356 N. Thompson Peak Parkway, Scottsdale police said.
Simanton, of Yorba Linda, Calif., is being held in the Maricopa County’s Fourth Avenue Jail in Phoenix on $4,500 bond, according to jail information.
Simanton was visiting his sister at the time of the incident. The babysitter told police Simanton made unwanted advances to her and said things that made her feel uncomfortable, said Sgt. Mark Clark.
After Simanton made the suggestive comments to the teen, she told police he pulled her shirt up and touched her breast before the girl ran out of the house to call her mother.
Simanton told police he had about three drinks throughout the day, but the girl told officers he didn’t appear to be intoxicated when the incident happened, Clark said.
Simanton is to appear March 29 for a preliminary hearing on three counts of sexual abuse at the Regional Court Center.
