A Phoenix man and his uncle were arrested after Scottsdale police found what they believed was a stolen refrigerator in a truck one of them was driving.

Grant Lee Harris, 34, and David Eugene Harris, 57, were arrested in an apartment complex in the 1300 block of West McDowell Road about 4 p.m. Thursday in connection with an April 17 burglary in south Scottsdale, said Scottsdale burglary Sgt. Eric Rasmussen.

The pair may be linked to other burglaries, Rasmussen said.

Neighbors called about a suspicious Dodge pickup truck April 17 in an alley near the 6600 block of East Granada Road, he said.

When officers arrived, they found the two men with a new, stainless steel refrigerator in the truck and recorded its serial number, Rasmussen said.

But no one reported a burglary in the area and officers released them, he said.

Later that day, a woman remodeling her East Granada Road home reported her refrigerator, oven range, microwave, washer and dryer worth $5,394 stolen, Rasmussen said.

She had receipts and documents, including serial numbers. However, none of her belongings were recovered.

Through their investigation, detectives found that Grant Harris had pawned 58 power tools and appliances throughout the Valley, Rasmussen said.

"We assumed he was a pretty active burglar because he didn’t have a job," he said.

David Harris, who was the driver of the truck, had a small semi-automatic handgun in a holster with him, Rasmussen said.

He is a prohibited possessor because of previous charges of marijuana possession and using weapons during a drug offense, Rasmussen said.

Police served search warrants on the McDowell apartment and found information Grant Harris printed off the Internet on appliance prices, Rasmussen said.

They also served a search warrant at a storage unit in the 2100 West Van Buren block and found other washers and dryers without serial numbers, he said.

Both men were methamphetamine users, Rasmussen said.
