“Lost Boy” Peter Angon spoke at Mesa’s Academy with Community Partners last month, telling his story of survival. The Lost Boys were children who travelled miles — mostly alone — to escape war in Sudan.

Students were inspired and moved as he told his story about three-month-walk he made over 1,000 miles from Sudan to Ethiopia and then to a Kenyan refugee camp. Peter’s father was killed in the war, and in tribute to him, Peter went on to graduate from Grand Canyon University, fulfilling a lifelong dream his father always had for him. Students held a reception for Peter following his talk.
