Applications are still being accepted through June 16 for an open position on the Chandler Unified School District governing board.

An opening was created when Rob Barney announced his resignation, effective June 16 as he and his family will be moving out of state.

The appointed person will fill the remainder of the unpaid term, which expires December 2012.

Applications are available at the Chandler Unified School District office, 1525 W. Frye Road.

A team will review applications and make recommendations to Maricopa County School Superintendent Don Covey, who will have the final decision.

Finalists must attend an orientation seminar from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 24. Covey is expected to announce an appointment by July 30. The individual selected will join Annette Auxier, Barb Mozdzen, David Evans and Robert Rice on the board.
