Police are investigating after a child being cared for at a Gilbert daycare facility died Monday.

Gilbert police spokesman Bill Balafas said officers responded to KinderCare near Gilbert and Warner roads around 5 p.m. for a report of a child not breathing.

When police arrived, staff members were performing CPR on the 3-month-old boy and officers took over.

Shortly after, firefighters arrived and took over life-saving measures.

The infant was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Balafas said as in any infant death, Gilbert detectives are looking into the incident to determine if the child was left unattended, if he was sick or had a medical condition.

Balafas said he was not aware of any other incidents at this daycare facility.

The parents will now sue the daycare and find any reason to blame them when the poor child probably died of natural causes.
