Two of the Valley's most popular winter residents are headed home. The Phoenix Zoo will say goodbye March 31 to Kobi and Sooky, two koalas on loan from the San Diego Zoo.
The zoo will host a going-away party for the pair 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Visitors will be able to chat with the koalas' keepers, leave well wishes on a going-away card and participate in koala- and animal-related activities. They'll also get a last chance to view the koalas, who don't do much but sleep -- but look adorable doing it.
In conjunction with the party, the zoo is running a contest on Facebook. Enter your favorite photo of Kobi and Sooky on Phoenix Zoo's Facebook page to win a prize pack.
The event is included in the general admission price to the zoo. Phoenix Zoo is at 455 N. Galvin Parkway. For information or directions, call (602) 273-1341 or visit thephxzoo.org.
