The suspect in a domestic violence incident surrendered to Mesa police Thursday after an approximately 90-minute standoff.

According to Detective Mike Melendez, Mesa police spokesman, a woman was taken to the hospital with multiple lacerations.

Melendez said the wounded woman left her apartment and went to a neighbor’s apartment around 7 a.m. at a complex near McDowell and Recker roads and called police.

Melendez said the man in her apartment refused to come out when police arrived.

A negotiator called the man, who eventually came outside without incident.
