Pinal County Sheriff's Office deputies are investigating two separate death cases involving a 25-year-old woman and a man discovered in the desert off of Interstate 8 near Casa Grande within the last week.

The woman allegedly was abandoned by a coyote, according to reports from her husband.

Late Monday, the body of the woman, whose name was not released, was discovered in the desert soon after her husband, Jose Daniel Castaneda-Morales, called 911 to report that he and his wife had been in the desert for several days. Her body was located north of I-8, west of Smith Road and north of the Central Arizona Canal, according to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office.

Castanada-Morales, who was identified by his Mexican Voter Registration card, was treated by medical personnel on the scene for dehydration and turned over to U.S. Border Patrol, according to the sheriff's office.

Shortly after 1 p.m. on July 22, the sheriff's office was contacted by the U.S. Border Patrol about a man's body discovered in the desert about four miles south of I-8 and milepost 149.

Their causes of deaths are pending autopsy reports from the Pinal County Medical Examiner's Office.
