If cops and doughnuts go together, then where one Arizona Department of Corrections officer will be Saturday morning is fitting.

Correctional Officer John Risch, who works at the Department of Corrections prison in Florence, will be the “Cop on Top” – sitting on top of Mesa's Krispy Kreme Donuts, 6626 E. Superstition Springs Blvd., from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. He'll be sitting on his perch to raise money for the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics Arizona.

The mission of the Arizona Law Enforcement Torch Run is to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics Arizona. To further the Special Olympics philosophy, law enforcement members will carry the torch representing the olympics' Flame of Hope and dedicate themselves to helping Special Olympics throughout the state.

For more information, visit www.azcorrections.gov/adc/letr_2010.aspx.

Saturday will mark the second year that Risch has sat atop a Krispy Kreme Donuts store to help raise funds.
