A prominent East Valley commercial real estate family is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person driving the silver pickup truck involved in a hit-and-run that killed Daniel Pollack.

Pollack, 31, of Chandler, the son of shopping center owner and philanthropist Michael Pollack, died after he was hit by the truck about 1:15 a.m. Sunday on Hayden Road, north of Thomas Road in Scottsdale.

Silent Witness is overseeing the reward. If you have information, call Silent Witness at (480) 948-6377. Those with information about the hit-and-run can also call Scottsdale Police at (480) 312-5000.

A memorial service for Pollack will be 11 a.m. Friday at Chandler Center for the Arts, 250 N. Arizona Ave. Burial will follow at Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Roads, also in Chandler.

Daniel Pollack served as a vice president and designated broker for the Arizona office of Michael Pollack International Management Inc. in Mesa, the company founded by his father that includes dozens of shopping centers around the Valley and Pollack Cinemas.

Prior to working in the family business, Pollack began his career in real estate at Marcus and Millichap where he worked during college in the research department, according to information released by Jason Rose of Rose, Moser, and Allyn Public Relations, serving as a spokesman for the family.

In a statement issued by Rose, Michael Pollack said, "He had his whole life in front of him. He was a wonderful son and a wonderful part of our family and team at Pollack Real Estate Investments. I hope and trust law enforcement will do everything in its power to find the people that fled the scene so all the facts can be known and justice can best be served."

Pollack had two degrees from Arizona State University's W.P. Carey School of Business, one in real estate and one in small business management. He was pursuing a master's degree in business administration at the time of his death.

He also had attended the real estate management program at Harvard Business School and was listed in Arizona Real Estate Magazine's "Top People to Know in Commercial Real Estate" for 2009, 2010 and this year.

A founding committee member of the International Council of Shopping Centers' Next Generation Division, Pollack also was instrumental in creating a community for new commercial real estate professionals to become acquainted with one another.

Pollack's other service included volunteering with the Maricopa County Justice Courts as a mediator and serving as a board member with the Jewish Community Foundation. Michael Pollack International Management Inc. also has provided support to Goodwill and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Arizona.

I know that parents of Daniel Pollack are really mad at the silver pickup truck driver. I hope that this incident was already solve. I wonder why does the driver committed this hit and run. He should be extra careful when driving especially if its midnight. To avoid this accident again, I suggest t truck drivers that they should check first their engines and brakes because these are the things that are really vital. It is also advisable to upgrade their truck accessories parts for safety reasons.
