Two Valley businesses are offering free cardiopulmonary resuscitation training this pool season in an effort to prevent the spike in drownings seen each summer.
Fulton Homes and KMLE (107.9 FM) are sponsoring the classes, which will be taught at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, 1919 E. Thomas Road, on the third floor of Building B.
The classes, which will be taught in English and Spanish, are American Heart Association Friends and Family noncertification courses that will cover the basics of adult and pediatric CPR.
Each month, Fulton Homes will donate a pool fence to a class participant, who will also be featured on disc jockey Dave Pratt’s radio show.
Drowning claimed the lives of 28 children in the East Valley between 2000 and 2003, according to Water Watchers of Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
