A funeral service for slain Phoenix police officer Travis Murphy will be held Wednesday morning.

The service will be held at the Christ Church of the Valley in Peoria.

The 29-year-old officer was fatally shot May 26 during an early-morning confrontation with a suspect.

Police arrested 30-year-old Danny Ledezma Martinez on charges of first-degree murder and weapons violations in connection to the case.

Murphy was a married 4-year veteran of the police force with two young children.

Donations in Murphy's honor can be made to the 100 Club or to a memorial fund in his name at Wells Fargo Bank.
