WASHINGTON — The Department of Homeland Security is cutting ties with an Arizona sheriff accused of a wide range of civil right violations.
Secretary Janet Napolitano, said Thursday the department is ending an agreement with the Maricopa County sheriff's office that allowed trained deputies to enforce immigration laws. It's also restricting the office's use of the Secure Communities program, which uses fingerprints collected in local jails to identify illegal immigrants.
Napolitano's announcement came shortly after the Justice Department released a scathing report accusing Sheriff Joe Arpaio (ar-PEYE'-oh) and his office of committing a wide range of civil rights violations against Latinos. Justice Department investigators said the abuses included a pattern of racial profiling.
Napolitano was governor of Arizona prior to being tabbed for the Homeland Secuirty post by then-President-elect Barack Obama in late 2008.

You have to read the recent articles in the Arizona Daily Star (azstarnet.com). They have reluctantly run several articles that refute the DHS assertion of a safer border.
I hope Joe comes up with other alternatives such as running an E-Verify check on every single person being booked in the his facility. If they are found to be using false of stolen ID, then it shouldn't be too hard to check with the ADOR to see what kind of tax returns they have filed or not filed. Chances are a minimum of state tax evasion charges are in order. Hello of felony charges. DHS may turn them back onto the streets after they have been tried and convicted but that will be their decision.

obama, Holder and nappy have a way of getting even with someone who get's on their bad side. They go after them, embarass them, demean them any way they can. It's a way fo covering their own butts when they know they are NOT enforcing the laws that are written. What can you expect of a president, (obama) when he lets a president of another country to come here and dictate our laws??

Napolitano should know better. Arpaio is doing his Job according to the Law. The People who who don't care are the Gov. The Illegals HAVE to go. They rob us of S.S., get Welfare and Food Stamps and raise Hell. The Gov. should stay out of local Issues because they DO NOT KNOW anything about AZ; plus, the Gov is the one who strips Americans of our "Civil Rights". Wake up People!!! Get rid of the Illegals! t!!! Let Arpaio do his Job. So far, he cleaned up pretty Good. The bickering about every little Issue is soooo stupid.
