A mother accused of blowing marijuana smoke into her 10-month-old daughter's mouth to stop her crying, was arrested on suspicion of child abuse.
The roommate of Jessica Callaway, 21, also recorded her with a cell phone slapping the child as she sat on the floor inside their apartment in the 900 block of Benrich Drive. Callaway was arrested about 4:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Gilbert police.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident in an attempt to determine whether Callaway also kicked the child, according to Sgt. Bill Balafas, police spokesman.
It was not immediately known if the child was in the care of Child Protective Services, but Saturday's arrest was the first time Gilbert police had contact with Callaway, according to Balafas.
