Police detectives arrested a Phoenix man Tuesday on suspicion of embezzling $117,000 from Gilbert-based Cambridge Filter Corporation.

According to Gilbert police, Raul Sandoval was arrested at his home without incident.

According to court documents, Sandoval was an accountant at the company, which makes air filtration systems, and altered the pay system so he would receive two paychecks at a time, which allowed him to steal about $115,000.

He also fraudulently used company credit cards for two years, police allege.

“Raul admitted he used the money to purchase a truck, to pay for his daughter’s schooling and put some of the money in investment accounts,” a Gilbert detective wrote in court documents.

Jail records show he was booked on suspicion of theft, forgery and fraudulent use of a credit card.

A judge set a $2,700 bail for Sandoval.
