The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office identified a man who drowned on Saturday at Saguaro Lake as Thomas Ball, 42, of Phoenix.

Deputy Charles Scudella said Ball had swam most of the way to a semi-submerged boulder about 75 to 100 yards from shore when he began yelling for help and went under.

Divers recovered his body about 2½ hours later in 18 feet of water.
