Has your dog ever had a seizure? A pet suffer from heat stress? A cat come home with battle wounds from an alley fight?

Then you might want to check out the seminar "Pet First Aid" that's being offered by Mesa's Bark Avenue Pet Supply. Veterinarian Dean Rice will show you "what to do" and "what not to do" during this free event at 1:30 p.m., Oct. 22 at 3109 E. McKellips Road, where Bark Avenue owns three businesses: Bark Avenue Pet Supply, Bark Avenue Pet Resort and Bark Avenue Animal Hospital.

Participants will have an opportunity to share their experiences and ask questions.

Rice has been a practicing veterinarian in Arizona for many years, since he graduated from Kansas State University. He has owned several veterinary hospitals in the East Valley and in Prescott and spent five years at the Phoenix Zoo as veterinarian and executive vice president.
