Area residents are invited to participate in the 2008 Neighborhood Day at the Legislature taking place 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Capitol Mall, 1700 W. Washington Street, Phoenix.

Attendees must make reservations by Jan. 17. by calling (602) 534-2997 or registering online

at the Phoenix Intergovernmental Programs Office at phoenix.gov/INTERGOV/.

Visitors also can sign up for a free special seminar that will feature a free lunch and tour of the

Arizona House of Representatives and State Senate.

During the seminar, attendees can also learn about their local legislative agendas as the session begins, how legislation under consideration will affect their neighborhoods, and how they can use techniques used by lobbyists to influence decisions.

To attend the seminar, guests must register separately and in advance at (602) 258-5786.

The event is hosted by Avondale, Buckeye, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Goodyear, Mesa, Peoria, Phoenix, Queen Creek, Scottsdale, Surprise, Tempe and Tucson and the League of Arizona Cities and Towns.
