A Queen Creek middle school was evacuated Thursday after a student told school officials about a bomb threat.
Students were rushed out of J.O. Combs Middle School just after noon, and police canvassed the building with bomb-sniffing dogs but didn’t find any explosives, said Jan Langer, school district superintendent.
Pinal County Sheriff’s deputies were first to arrive at the school, and Mesa police and the Arizona Department of Public Safety also assisted. Langer said the school is investigating the threat. She said it appears a student overheard a conversation taken out of context.
The school notified parents of the incident and students returned to class before the end of the school day.
